Unburden Patient Care. Now!

Administrative burdens interfere with direct patient care. That is what medical practices across the nation expressed in the Medical Group Management Association’s (MGMA) Annual Regulatory Burden Survey.

This year, MGMA’s survey of over 500 medical practices concluded that “From measuring quality to completing prior authorization requirements, medical practices face mounting regulatory hurdles that interfere with clinical goals and improving patient outcomes.” When regulation reaches a point that it prevents health care teams from directly treating patients, standards critical to achieving the best health outcomes may become compromised. That is not in the best interest of patients. It drives up the cost of care and causes burnout among clinicians.

Patients and Providers United seeks to engage policymakers to help them view care through the eyes of both patients and providers. Chronic diseases are already challenging for patients and caregivers – not just physically, but also financially and emotionally. Burdensome regulation and utilization management techniques like Prior Authorization, Step Therapy and White Bagging delay care, divert clinical teams from the patients’ bedside and restrict access to breakthrough therapies. Join with patients, providers and caregivers to tell Congress to advance legislation that addresses the regulatory burdens that complicate, delay and interfere with direct patient care.
