COVID-19: What Medically Fragile Patients and Caregivers Need to Know

Physicians place a priority on knowing the unique characteristics of each person they treat. Patients with complex, chronic conditions like cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, hemophilia, autoimmune diseases, other rare diseases and mental illness should first turn to their own physician(s) and trusted health care teams to discuss options to protect themselves from any infection. The internet is a vast resource at our fingertips and in our homes. During uncertain times, it’s important to refer to the physicians that know us best and fact-based online sources of information. Doctor-approved patient information on COOVID-19 can be found online at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CDC offers information on reducing your chances of getting sick, identifies emergency warning signs and symptoms to look for and recommends strategies for caregivers to support loved ones at higher risk for serious illness.
